What Our Guests Want to Know

Tours are approximately 2 hours and may run a little longer if ponies are farther north or if dolphins are spotted.

Tours run rain or shine. If conditions are unsafe due to high winds, heavy rain or thunderstorms, the captain will notify guests before the tour if cancellation or time changes are necessary. All tours canceled by Saltwater Pony Tours will be fully refunded.

Restrooms are available at the marina before and after the tour. If needed during the tour, we can stop at a town park located on our route. Just let us know when we are talking about the pony swim.

If you have binoculars, please bring them along. If not, we have some available to share.

Dress in layers and bring extra clothing. It can be chilly on the water, especially during spring and fall.

You are welcome to bring water and a small snack. Food and drinks are not included on the boat ride. Please try to avoid sticky food!

Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome and must remain leashed at all times.

Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Guests may reschedule anytime.

Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. The Chincoteague ponies that live on Assateague Island are as wild as the dolphins, and birds. Our captains will make every effort to find as much wildlife as possible while respecting their habitat.

Once you arrive on Chincoteague Island, turn right onto Main Street and continue to the south end of the island. Turn left onto Curtis Merritt Harbor Drive and follow the road to the marina.
Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time.
🚤 Where to Meet:
Meet us at Floating Dock #1. Upon entering the marina, remain to the left of the boat ramp and continue past the Harbormaster building. Floating Dock #1 will be located on the right-hand side, clearly marked with the Saltwater Pony Tours sign.
🚗 Parking:
Free public parking is available at the marina.
